This work, dated 1809, reproduced, "in imitation of the print" a painting that the artist exhibited at the 1804 Salon under the title of "The Gallery of the Palace of the Tribunate." The image, which represents the talks between men and prostitutes, recalls that the galleries of the Palais Royal - Tribunate Palace from 1800 to 1807 - were, since their creation, the top Parisian place of gallantry.
